I have just upgraded 2.0 to 3.0 and all is working well.

However I have installed the console on my XP machine for administration and hit an issue. I cannot connect to the WSUS server from the console. I'm using port 80 (No SSL) and have tried disabling the firewall but still get the message...

Cannot connect to 'Server'. The server may be using another port or different SSL setting.

One problem is that we are not in a domain environment at the moment so only workgroups. I assume an issue may be athentication??

If so how do I runas the console as a user on that server in a workgroup environment?

Cheers

have you tried adding local workstation users on the server? I'm not sure it that works or not, I can't remember. i.e. add user WorkStation1\localuser to WSUSServer. Or now that I am thinking about it checkout your IIS setting for the WSUS site you may be able to just change that to anonymous logon, instead of windows authentication.

I had the same issue when i was testing WSUS3. I tested it on a non-domain server and i couldnt connect to it from my domain workstation, had the same error you did. Once i put WSUS on a production domain server i could connect fine, i never could find a work around. Only thing i could do was rdp to the WSUS server and use the console from there.

Thanks for the info. I've been using Remote Desktop up until now and I think I'll stick with that for the time being. Not too much hassle. We'll hopefully be going to AD soon and this sort of problem will be resolved.

Cheers,
Steve
