The other post about WSUS3 reminded me that I've forgotten to upgrade.

Quick question...I've set my WSUS2 install for all the latest patches available...when I upgrade in-place from WSUS 2 to WSUS 3, are there any caveats? Anything I need to change on my GPO? Or is it as simple as it appears to be...i.e. upgrade in-place from 2 to 3 and it's all done?

It's a while since i did our upgrade but as far as i remember it was as simple as running the exe it also migrated the Db from MSDE to SQL express everything else remaned the same all groups, updates and approvals.

Of course a good backup first is a good idea :)

Backup? I don't need no stinking backup! ;-)

Oh...you mean that thing I kicked off a few minutes ago? Ahhh...yes..backup good... :)

Thanks.

The first thing you will notice is that the web interface is broken and there seems to be no way to manage it. It's now an MMC which is much better but you might need to create it manually.

You probably know that already but when we moved over early and didn't know that i had one of those sinking feelings when i first tried to use the web interface :)

Install went without a hitch (after I updated my WSUS server with a ton of patches...funny...forgot to patch the patch server!).
