Background: My company has decided to jump into Sharepoint and I have been tasked with developing whole thing from ground zero. I am a VB/Access programmer by title, but have a background in some HTML and ASP programming which is why I landed this task. The company ordered a couple Sharepoint books for me and I am proficient in websearching and finding answers so things have been going pretty well.
Setup: I have Sharepoint (3.0) setup on my test server. I have installed some of the Server Admin templates and am liking a lot of this. I have gotten a copy of Sharepoint Designer and am having no trouble modifying pages, web parts, security, etc.
Scenario: One piece left for me to answer...Surveys. I have created some test surveys and setup permissions for the surveys. Me and some other employees have entered data and all is good. My question is this - Aside from setting permissions, is there a way to "disable" a survey? If I modify permissions and someone has no access to the survey, the do not see it when accessing the site.
But the requirement presented to me is to be able to turn surveys on and off. We have a collection of surveys that will be answered at various times, usually near the beginning of a month or quarter and should only be available for a week or so. I don't want to give access to anyone else to be able to modify permissions...I would like to just set the permissions and forget them.
If anyone has any suggestions or has accomplished this, please and thank you for your knowledge.
