WSS site re-direct based on user ID? Is there a way to do this?

We're setting up an extranet using WSS for our vendors to log in and access reports, etc.

Using standalone security (not AD), I'd like to find a way so when the user goes to the site, they login and immediately get re-directed to their custom vendor specific site.

for example:

user BSMITH logs into vendorportal.com and gets taken to vendorportal.com/BSMITH

user JJONES logs into vendorportal.com and gets taken to vendorportal.com/JJONES

OR

Take them to vendorportal.com first where we could display info that would be common to all vendors, then have a link on this page that would re-direct them to their personal site based on their userid.

Any thoughts on how I could do this?
