I've install Windows Sharepoint Services 2.0 on my server. How do I make it where a consultant can log in to our sharepoint site without being in our Domain. At the moment, is only giving me the option to authenticate by domain\username . Thank you for your help.

ok...

I changed authentication method in IIS 6 to Basic Authentication. Now when i create a user, is stating that "USER DOES NOT EXIST". How do I create a user to log in with a simple username and password? Thanks.

please test this
create a local user on your WSS server: user1
set your wss site to basic authentication

navigate to your site
log in as someone that manages the WSS site
add the user by using servername\user1 and give him the rights needed to perform his job
log out (close webrowser or so)
navigate again to your site
in the auth dialog box use servername\user1 and fill in the correct password
should work

hope this helps

Thanx EvilBart, that works.

But that means I have create a user account on the network for everyone that needs to log into WSS?

yes for every consultant
if your server is a member of a domain, you can use domain accounts eg: domainname\useraccount

hope this helps
