Hello all,
We are running WSS 3.0 tests. Everything seems fine except for one user. THey can go to the sharepoint main site and other sub sites without any problem. But when they try to access a web part on those pages IE pops up an error saying it has to shut down. In the event log this is recorded:

Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2945, fault address 0x00012a5b.

The MS site has som KBs descripbing similar problems, but not this exact one. I have tried all their solutions and hotfixes. I've disabled all security software (eTrust AV and Spybot), and well as turned off the Windows Firewall. THey are admins of their PC. I'm at my wits end.

Sounds like it's time for a call to PSS.

Hello,

I had the same issue, what I did to resolve it was to remove two patches for XML 4.0 ... After I did that everything started to work fine.
This error how ever only occured when I was using Office 2007. I rolled back to Office 2003 and then it worked (even with those patches).

Just thought I would mention it.

Cheers,
Thomas

Hello Thomas,
Tank you so much for the info. I had suspicioins it was a Windows update, but had no idea where to being. My next step was going to be a repair install of XP. I checked the user's software installed and he did install Project 2007 recently. I'm guessing from what you told me thats the source of the problem. Good to know as we are going to roll out Office 2007 Pro+ here in a few weeks... maybe longer now we have this problem :).

THanks again for the info!!
