today we tried using the stsadm.exe only to be told that it is not a valid win32 application, could anyone please advise on this. Or would wss 2.0 need to be reinstalled, or would a repair fix.

How are you trying to run it? It isn't really a win application, but a command line driven tool.

The obvious answer if you are trying to double click it is --
Open up a command prompt, and browse to the directory it is in and type "stsadm /?" for a list of commands

thanks for your suggestion, i should have said this in my original post, yes i have run the command in a dos window and it still returns with a \60\bin\stsadm.exe is not a valid win32 application, but thanks for replying anyway much appreciated.

Do you still have the install files for WSS 2.0? You might want to try to run a repair of the installation.

OR if you can find it, copy the STSADM file out of the install files and into the directory you need (in MOSS 2007 it is in d:\Global\WSS\sts.cab)

cmv131 just copied the exe from the sps 2003 and cd it seems to have worked, so a big thank you for your help, first time i have posted and i get a result what a great forum.
