wss 2.0 - Office 2007 Compatibility - URGENT

We have a document library , which has .doc files uploaded on a
sharepoint 2003 server. This used to work fine when the users had
Office 2003 installed on their machines.But, when we upgraded the
client machines to Office 2007, the users are challenged to enter
their credentials repeatedly , even though they have enough access.We
also found that when the user clicks the 'cancel' button when
challenged for credentials , the user is able to access the
document.We did not made any server changes , when we did the Office
2007 upgrade on the client machines and we hoped that the .doc would
automatically open in the compatible mode.Thank

What is the OS? I was able to resolve a similar issue in Windows XP by placing the SahrePoint site into Trusted sites. Windows 7 required a registry edit for my issue, that I can't recall at the moment.
