We are beginning an upgrade of an existing 2.0 site, and will need to ensure that alerts are off. So far I have tried virtual server's central admin and STSADM methods to no avail. Alerts keep coming. Even after turning schedule alert timer off, the alerts are cached and then sent out as soon as I reenable the alert timer service. Is there a safe way to disable the alerts short of killing all user subscriptions?????
