Hi,

When I try to open IE I receive a "WSOCK32.DLL Error" with a yellow exclamation point and "Cannot find the 32-bit client." Sometimes it appears once and sometimes twice. After that it opens with "Cannot find server" in the title bar and displaying "The page cannot be displayed" error page.

Does anybody you have any idea what caused it and how I can fix it ???

I have reinstalled windows 98SE and internet explorer with no help.

Thanks,

to confirm its a fault with internet explorer, try upgrading to version IE5.5 you could also try another browser like netscape navigator. does your dial up to the internet work ok otherwise ( i.e. is your email OK ) If in doubt get the Ball Pein Hammer out

IE is Version 5.5. AOL works fine. I can send and receive mail with Outlook Express. The error only appears when I try to load IE or try to do something that launches IE in turn.

Problem Solved...Thanks

I reinstalled Win98SE and IE5.5 with no results. With windows being what it is and IE being what it is I decided to extract just WSOCK32.DLL from the Win98SE CD and VIOLA. It works. Go figure.

how do you go about extracting the wsock32.dll file from the cd - i browsed it and didn't see it explicitly.
