After installing extensions (MM EX MAS on 5.2) the Messaging Application service would not stay running. Advised to install the MM Service Pack and patches but only the Admin & MAS elements were patched. The WSO were seen in the registry and dll files in the directory but not in the Patch tab under About Avaya Modular Messaging.

Repair of the WSO in the Control Panel not available but the software after this attempt said to remove the item. This was done but afterward the ocuabout.dll file was not found in the Start Menu so the MM didn't know what version it was. Installed the WSO with a base build MAS APPS DVD and the ocuabout file returned but now shows as v5.0 but the MAS & ADMIN patch level shows for 5.2 SP9 patch 3.

Question: If I remove the WSO element again, via the Control Panel, install the WSO with a MAS Apps DVD with MM Service Pack 9 on it; would I be able to patch this to patch 3 to complete the install or do I need to reinstall this MAS?

What was the DVD you used on the first install ? Was it with patch 9 ?

What type of server avaya or CP ?

I would run the patch GA patch 8 and then patch it to service pack 8 or 9 manually

I just did one that really $#%#%$ up and that is what i had to do even after 2 re installs

I used the base build for 5.2 (9.2.150.0). At the appropriate time, I loaded patch 8, then Service Pack 9 followed by patch 3. This is an MM EX on Avaya S8800 hardware.

On your install did it show on the About Avaya General tab v5.0 also? My site shows this but the build number to the right of it in parenthesis shows the number for the SP9P3 release (9.2.407.9033).

es mine showed the v5.0 in the general tab and that is why i manually patched it from the patch directory on the DVD.

after that i restarted the MISCM and it finished fine.

This fix didn't work for me.

I reimaged and started over. Everything looked good. I really don't understand the Extensions process. I put in the MAS Apps dvd, press Install then see Run System Upgrade. After this run then the system restarted. When it came back up it acted like it was uninstalling the MM installation. When it finished the About Modular Messaging shows v5.2 for 9.2.150.0 and in the patch tab it only shows Modular Messaging 5.2 (ADMIN) - 9.2.150.0.

Is this the usual process when loading the Extensions?
