WS5000 switch firmware upgrade???!!!???

I am currently adding several more APs to my company's VLAN network and want to implement AP300 access ports...the problem is our wireless switch WS5000 does not currently have the most up-to-date firmware to support AP300s. I have downloaded the appropriate upgrades and have referenced documentation for upgrading the switch, but I wanted to know if anyone else has ever upgraded a WS5000 before. I don't feel comfortable upgrading the switch yet and was hoping that someone can give me some pointers before I start. Thanks for any help given.

I apologize, however, are you sure the WS5000 is a Nortel Networks product? We work with Nortel WLAN and have not heard of this. Nortel WSS model include 2270, 2250, 23x0 and the like.
Feel free to clarify.
