wrt54gs, wpc54gs, and win2k problems

just installed the router.

our winxp laptop with a 3com card connects immediately.

my win2k laptop with a wpc54gs does not connect. linksys tech support says i have to make the connection manually with the client software because i am using win2k. even manually it is really slow. first the card becomes active, then eventually it associates with the router, then a while later it gets the dhcp info from the rtr. i put an old orinoco 802.11 b card and it connects immediately.

whats going on? this does not make sense.
