I recenly purchased a Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router. After setting up the static IP, DHCP, and Wireless sections of the router it didn't work. But by mimicing the MAC address of the computer the cable internet used to be hooked up too it worked. However...

The wireless laptop (Dell Inspiron 8500), and my desktop have internet and work but I can't get them to share any files amongst eachother. They can't even ping one another witout a "Request Timed out" error. What can I do to get them to see one another in the network?

Both are using the network 192.168.1.0. 255.255.255.0. The DHCP assigns 192.168.1.101 to the laptop and 192.168.1.100 to the desktop because it booted first. The router is the default 192.168.1.1.

Any ideas? -Marshall

you probably want to post this at the Linksys forum. Don't you have any firewalls running on the machines? if so, turn them off and see if you can ping the machines.
