I have a samsung sv8004h hard drive as a slave and when i tried to open it, it said i needed to format it, so i did, but it only gave a capacity of 31.4 GB and the hard drive is 80GB. What do I need to do?

If you are using XP, format it in NTFS to see the full capacity. If you need FAT32 for some reason, use a Win98 boot disk to format it. XP is limited in partition size when creating with FAT32.

If its not a fat32 issue....

How old is your machine? Is the primary drive larger than 32GB? I ask, as older bioses have a limitation of 32GB on size of drive they can access.

Or - is the drive jumpered correctly - some have a limiting jumper for backward compatibility with said older bioses, which restrict drive size to 32GB.
