i have two harddrives , one is my primary and the other is one that im tryng to use to backup some files. both drives have os on them, but when i hook up the old drive and bootup, it boots up the old drive, which i hooked to the cd cable, what can i do to bootup my primary then reformat the second drive so that i use it as bckup so i can finish my upgrade. thanks in advance

when you get booted up on the old drive , run fdisk and remove the partition. That will insure that you don't boot from it any more. When you fdisk and format it again don't specify the /s modifier.
At that point you'll probably have a drive error. Fix the problem and you should be OK. Ed Fair

Hi!

1. Make sure that your Primary drive's status/OS are OK.
Also be sure that you set the proper Master(Primary)/Slave(Secondary) options of both drives.

2. Check the CMOS setup of your PC ensuring that the Primary drive is set as the first one to boot.

3. Disable "looking for another or any other drives to boot"

4. Save this settings and try rebooting.

Hope this helps..
