Does anyone know why IE sometimes gives textboxes a yellow background?

I have several forms with uniform color settings for the text boxes. However, some (but not all) people get yellow instead of the color I've chosen on some of the boxes.

Has anyone else seen this?

If the latest Google Toolbar is installed, it has an Auto-complete feature built into it. It shows the fields it can auto-complete by changing the background to yellow. I am not exactly sure how to turn that off, I didn't see anything at google's site. See for more info. Hope that helps.

I started using the Google toolbar and noticed the same thing. If that is the cause of your issue, you can change it in the Options of the toolbar. Not at my home PC at the moment but I think it was in an Advanced tab, where you can disable or customise the behaviour of the autofill.

Whilst the option doesn't exist in the Windows build of IE, in the current Mac build you can configure the autofill details on a field-by-field basis with your data. When a field name on the page matches a preconfigured autofill field, that field background turns yellow in the same way you have described.

I'm guessing the google bar is just providing an interface to the same feature.

As sweevo suggests, you can disable this using the following in IE for windows:

Tools > Internet Options > Content
Click the AutoComplete button and you can disable autocomplete for different types of form.
