Hi,

General question really. I've looked through the posts on here about Crystal writing to an access database, but I can really find anything current. Is it possible for crystal to write the information from a report to an access database?

I'm using SAP Crystal reports, the full version, if this helps.

Any info ideas about doing this would be most welcome.

Thanks

Di

Crystal as such can output extract files, which might be used for something else. But they only read from databases.

If you include an SQL Command, this could include writes. You could output a result using a subreport with an SQL Command placed at the end and fed the correct values.

This will only work if you have permission to write to those databases.

I've not actually done this, so I can't advised on details.

Clarification, a Crystal report produces a single print file, but you can export it in some format that can be used as an extract file and input to something else.

Crystal can export directly via ODBC to a NEW table. If you need to replace or append the data to an EXISTING table, one of the 3rd-party Crystal Reports scheduling tools listed at allows you to do that.

Alternatively, one of the 3rd-party UFLs (User Function Libraries) listed at ady.com/bookmarks.html allows you to use Crystal formulas to trigger SQL statement (including DELETE, UPDATE, INSERT) via ODBC.

hth,

view, export, burst, email, and schedule Crystal Reports.
