Writing Plugin's in C++

Has anyone had any experience in writing plugin's for Filemaker in any language. I have FileMaker 6.0 Developer but the documentation is so sparse, my programmer hardly knows where to begin.

What little information is in the book is not consistant with the files on the installation CD ROM. The book says refer to this sample file on the CD that doesn't exist.
