Writing Bandwidth Monitor in BCB4

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I want to write a bandwidth monitor with all the features (graph, export to excel, etc..), but I don't know where to start. I'm a novice to VCL, BCB but not to C, C++ programming. I want to use this project to improve my knowledge of BCB.

Any help is greatly appreciated
