write_data: write failure. Error = Not enough space

Hi all,
I have a site where intermittenly the AIX 4.3 box reports back:

write_data: write failure. Error = Not enough space

there is plenty of free disk and when I create any file of any size, this message comes up in a samba log.

Any advice appreciated!
