Write to specific line #?

I know how to open, write to and close a tile but now can I write to a specific line number in the doc?

I have a large file that is nothing more than a setting file. I want to write to the 5 this line of the document without disturbing any of the other text in the file. Each line as its own variable setting.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Use the function fseek.

fseek($fp,4) // maybe. Usualy everything starts on 0, so, do a test before.
