One of our users turned in a Lexar JumpDrive 2.0 Pro on her last day and I wanted to format the drive to ensure there wasn't any client data left on it. I noticed a very small opening in the side with a switch but didn't know what it did. I found this post on tek-tips thread602-1138955 and it turns out this little switch does write protect the drive. The hole is so small, unless you were looking for it you may never see it. I had to straighten out a paper clip in order to flip the switch.

Hello,

Are you asking what it actually does or are you having a problem formatting it?

A+ and coming soon: Network +

Neither. In the thread I referred to, the user thought his jump drive was bad b/c he didn't know there was an option to write protect it. I wasn't aware either until i started researching. My post was just to inform that some jumps drives do have write protection.
