I have this linksys WPC11 ver3 card.
When I install it in the slot of the laptop, it locks it up.

Help!!!!

This is a fresh install of win2k.

I am assuming that the card works in other laptops?

Try these three steps:

1. Download the latest firmware and driver set for the WPC11v3.

2. In Device Manager uninstall the existing driver set for the WPC11; uninstall the client software under Add/Remove Programs.

3. Under Device Manager, change the CardBus controller driver set from whatever chipset specific one it is now, to generic CardBus controller. You do this by clicking to "Show All" compatible hardware.

Reboot.

Now, using the original installation software set install the driver and client software for the card.

Reboot.

Install the card. Let windows autodiscover the new hardware. When it has finished, you then do the firmware upgrade and the driver upgrade and the client upgrade.
