Hello all,

I am having a hard time with WPAD and "Bypass Proxy" settings. Here is my environment:

ISA running in Cache Mode. No client software, just Proxy settings in browsers (all browsers are 5.5 or newer). We use this primarily for Cache and for accounting of Citrix users. All sits behind CheckPoint NG.

I have configured WPAD for DNS and DHCP. WPAD seems to work just fine. When Autodiscover box is checked everything configures for proxy and sessions show up in ISA.

I have a couple of sites that I need the users to bypass ISA and go directly through our Firewall. Before WPAD... the Proxy Bypass settings in IE allowed these sites to bypass ISA.

With WPAD Everything goes through ISA regardless of settings in Client Configuration. I have set the Web Browser properties in Client Configuration (within ISA Mgt.) to include "Bypass proxy for Local Servers" and entered the URLs/IPs for the sites I want to bypass ISA (Direct Access??).

If I view the WPAD.DAT generated. It does include these addresses I want to bypass under the DirectIPs= section.

Am I misunderstanding Direct Access? Is it different then the IE Proxy Settings area where I can specify Exceptions that I do not want to Proxy?? Keep in mind... set manually in IE, with proxy exceptions for local address, these sites are bypassed and don't show up in Monitor when accessing them.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Raymond
