In what situation would I used TKIP + WEP instead of using TKIP as the cipher?

Thank you

Didn't realise you could. My Buffalo setup gives me options in order of preference (security):-

Open Network ie no security

WEP with varying levels of encryption
64 Bit with ASCII
64 Bit with Hex
128 Bit with ASCII
126 Bit with Hex

WPA with TKIP encryption

WPA with AES encryption

----------------------

WEP as a whole is susceptible to hacking but will prevent casual attacks, as will MAC filtering. WPA with TKIP is a stronger level of ecurity that should see you OK, but I believe will be slightly slower than the WEP options. WPA AES is stronger still than TKIP and has equivalent speed to those in WEP so is likely to be the best option if it works OK for you.
