I find WP8 works perfectly under Win2k except that all macros, even the simplest ones, take 4 full seconds to start running. Once started, even those that take 30 min. under Win9x, run incredibly faster than under Win9x.

Has ANYBODY encountered this "macro startup" problem, and how can I solve it? I have a lot pf macros, and WP8 under Win2k has become almost unusable because of this delay.

What rights level do your users have on their Win2K stations? WP8, and releases before SP4 of WP9 legal, have to be run with Administrator rights. Also, make sure your temporary files and TEMP and TMP pointers are set to a local drive. Are you running any portion of this on a network? Are your NIC drivers set to Auto, or are you forcing them to the correct speed (much better!)

Thanks Fred: I am Administrator and only user. Computer is networked to a second W95 computer on which WP8 is running fine including instant although much slower macros. How do I set temp files and pointers that you mention?

Corel says they do not support WP8 under W2k, but I don't see how they can never have heard of this macro start problem, since all other features run perfectly.

Do you think WP10 would be a step forward? I have over 100 important macros, and fear that most of them would not run at all. Does anybody convert macros for a fee?

Regards, Edwin
