I'm using WP8 and XP. When opening WP a message appears that I should re-create backup folder via tool settings. I"ve tried doing that at least 10 times but the message keeps repeating. I've tried creating the backup folder and rebooting but still get message. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm not sure that wp8 can be patched to work with winxp but you should have it patched as much as possible anyway.
Try renaming wp8us.wpt and then start wp. Go into Tools, Settings, Files and set the backup folder. You may also have network issues if you use some folder not local.
