Would SSI(Server side includes) have any negative effects on search engine rankings? What I am thinking is to use SSI on my top navigation menu, I am just worried that Google or other SE not able to crawl/follow the links on my navigation menu if I use SSI... I don't think it would... Or I might be wrong, please advice.

Thanks in advance!

SSI is perfectly safe in terms of search engines.

The name says it all: "server side" - it is processed on your server's side of the event BEFORE it is served up to the search engine.

What the spider gets is a page that appears to be a normal web page, with the SSI content in the page as if it were hard coded.
