Would like some clarification please

Hi,

I would like to check something please.

If I have 7 machines all with xp pro on, one is being used as a file server only. Thsi will be set up as a workgroup.

The other six machines will only need to acces the file server and not each other .

Do i still need all the usernames and passwords on all the machines or can i have just the username and password for the user on the workstaions and then have all the usernames a passwords on the server.

Hope this makes sense.

You would only need the username/passwords on the server (because that is what is deciding if a person has access to a file/resource). If you are not sharing files or printers on the other workstations, you would need need to set up the users on those machines.
