my lan has 4 pcs. 3 are fine, one runs win2000 and is not fine. it cant ping any other pcs or any ip address at all.

nat32 is running on one, with a cable modem attached. the only thing i can think of is win2000 boots, contacts nat32, gets dhcp info and then stops working.

thing is i cant ping an pcs, including the one that runs nat32, leading me to wonder if the win2000 one ever gets as far as contacting the nat32 pc. it was working fine on my other lan at my other home, but is bad here. i was connecting to a linux box there. here is 98se nat32.

An ipconfig /all on the W2K PC and check IP address. Make sure it is getting an IP from the DHCP server. It sounds like it is not and is using the default 169.254.x.x it will not find the others unless it knows the route.
