Weve just got ourselves a very expensive Xerox DC12 and Fiery XJ.
I am trying to find a way of logging print jobs under different client accounts.
We have many clients and we need to separate and log the printer/copiers usage by each of the clients. The copier allows me to set up an audit, so users have to enter and access code to copy, which is then logged. So we have for example, code 1010 for marketforce and 1020 for superdrug, etc. Which is all then logged. fine.
The printer however doesnt seem to have such options. There is the log file, but that doesnt give the relivant information. The only way I can see how to do it would be to set up 20 printers on each users PC. Give each one a relivant name, such as: DC12_Superdrug, DC12_Marketforce, DC12_pringles, etc.. and then in the friey printing/user information tab of each printer, type in the note field what it is. Then when users printed, the log file would have the notes saying which client the job was for.
This however is far from ideal, as we have many one off clients and its just too many printers and will become too complicated.
Whats needed ideally is a piece of software which will just promp the user for the client name when they press print, and then log the information either in the log file, or just anywhere really, I dont care, just as long as it logs it.
Does anyone know of any such software, or any other way around the problem. Or if not, do you have any suggestions where I should look, or even what to look for (I tried google but came up with 16,000,000 results.)
Thanks in advance,
Julian K
