My machine is a member of the domain.
1. 130 + 34 seconds
When the PDC(domain controller) is on, it takes 130 seconds from boot
to the login window. After I type my password to login, it takes 34
seconds to load everything.

2. 70 + 60 seconds.
When the PDC is off, it takes 70 seconds from boot to the login window,
and 60 seconds to load after typing password.

Can any one tell me why it's so slow (130 seconds) on booting? I think there
must be something wrong with the server. From the event log, I can see
a DNS error and a w32time error.

event 62, w32time error
event 5781, no DNS servers are available.

Thank you very much.

1)Running DNS?
2)Operating System?
3)When your'e on, what does ipconfig /all tell you?
4)If it's a W2K machine, is browsing turned off in services?
5)Anybody else have this problem?
4)What SP? If it's XP, and you've got sp1, it's notorious already for slow logon. Glen A. Johnson
