Netware 6 patched, ZFD 3.2 all patches except K patch and sp1, workstations are w2k.
We have begun testing 15-20 workstations, and have begun to notice the following things.
We have our workstations set to import after the third log in, and they do that. Then under Novell desktop management tray icon you can see at the workstation object is listed.
Once applications begin to be installed, after 4 or 5 installs and a reboot, the workstation object is N/A at the desktop, but still there in NDS. It starts the login count over again. I can see this in wsreg32.log, and the zenwsimport log file. In the import log file, it seems riught at the same time this happens, I get a "unable to find workstation XYZ" and then the login count starts over again for the workstation. The XYZ workstation no longer exists, the NDS object had been deleted a week or more ago.
I've DB-synced the server and got rid of about 12 already deleted workstations. There seem to be 2 left that keep popping up(unable to find workstation XYZ), even though they are non existent. I've already seen this nonexistent workstation object name attach itself to a workstation that has lost its link(I have a screen capture to prove it) under the display NDS information on the workstation.
Is ther any possibilty this could be because we don't have a removal policy in place yet.
It does seem that this happens multiple times, One testuser had her workstation registered, lost it after installs, then got it back, then lost it again and then got it back after relogging in the required number of times.
Has anybody ever seen anything like this?
I can recreate the problem on demand, which helps, but I'm not sure how to troubleshoot any further, seems to be related to these ghost workstations causing other workstations to lose their link.
Thanks for any suggestions
Tony
