Win 2003 server has a workstation (XP pro) that is always connected with files open (necessary). Seems daily the connection drops & I have to reestablish it. Thankfully no files get corrupted when the connection breaks. It used to work fine, then some time ago after doing a Win update on the server the problem started (don't know which update). It doesn't follow a pattern, like timing out.

Where can I look to ensure the connection never drops?

Thank you.

Your fist step should be finding out why it drops. Once this is done then you won't need to ensure the connection. Sit at the pc and do a steady ping to the server and see if it drops. at the cmd prompt run this command "ping (the server IP)/t". If it drops try replacing the cable. This will a process of elimination.
