Hello,

I wanted to do some workstation cleanup in AD, and was wondering if there was a way to tell when the last time a workstation was active on the network (by name).

Basically, the systems folks here do there desktop builds and join the domain, somethimes the rename the workstation and old entries are left in AD (as well as DDNS etc...).

For now, I'm going to work backwards from the DHCP list, but this is not a full-proof way as some machiens get static ips.

Thanks in advance.

There is a lastlogon attribut stored in AD that you could query. The value as I recall is the number of minutes that have expired since Jan 1, 1900 I believe. SO, you will need to convert the value.

i'm more of a unix dope, what is the utility used to do that?
