Hello,

when creating a new job in Workload, I receive the following error message:

%CARTC_E_614, Communication format operation failed (Smcdat binary extract)
%CAOP_E_504, Console deamon on node EICILUXINT not receiving

Any idea what might cause this?
I use 2.4.2.

Regards,

Can't say I know for sure but experience tells me that it is probably down to CCI / DNS.
I am presuming from your server name that you run CA on NT.

You could try a couple of things:
1)If you have a purely Wintel environement (NT and 2000 etc) get rid of CCI remote from everything.
"ccicntrl remove rmt force"
NT uses transport - but if it loses the transport connection it will try to use remote. This is bad. Causes all sorts of problems.
Ignore this if you are running CA management components on any other platform.

2) Make sure your workload server is in your unimap. "caugui unimap" - you should see the server listed. If not run the add server wizard - "cautserv".

3) In caugui settings - options - router... set the router client timeout value to the maximum (I think this is 600).

4) Make sure that the Server can resolve the machine you are working from. If the DNS is wrong - CCI will fail.

5) If you are working from an admin client check that the "server node name" in caugui settings - options - CCI options, is set to the server name and not to your local machine name.

6) You can also put some router diagnostic traces on (again in caugui settings) but I have never done this so would advise you contact CA support first.

Hope this helps, but it probably won't!
