I have created a template in Visio of specific masters that are to be used by our staff to create Org Charts for our company (1500 employees) When a new department organization chart is started the template opens and works fine. But when the user goes to save the new org chart, the "Save As Type" field is set to Template. Visio's sample templates show this field as set to Drawing.

In the template I created The "File Name" field shows the name of the template. Visio's sample templates show this field as blank forcing the user to give the new org chart a name and not changing the original document. I would like my template to behave the same way. I cannot find anything in the Help that addresses this need. Anybody know how to make this happen?

I can't repeat this problem. My templates is OK(try on Visio 2K&2K2&2K3).

1) Try create template based on Blank Drawing.
If all repeats, problem with Visio. Reinstall Visio files.
If all be Ok. Problem with base on template. Try rebuild this template.

What version of Visio?
