Working with SBT Accounting system which was last developed in VFP 5.0. I keep a copy of VFP 5.0 around to do minor modifications to the SBT system. I have posted this question in the SBT forum but no replies as of yet. I've been asked to research changing a field length in SBT and I wrote a quick program to search report files looking for that field:

Searching report files by opening them with USE. When I first open them I get a dialog box asking to choose a code page. I've been choosing Windows ANSI.
Why is it asking me this? Is Windows ANSI the correct response?

Thank you everyone.

Hi Trey,

Windows ANSI is code page 1252, which is a correct choice if your data is in English or most other western European languages. But just to be sure, you can always browse the data after adding the code page, then glance through to make sure it displays correctly.

If it doesn't, execute CPZERO to remove the code page, then look through the Help topic entitled "Code Pages Supported by Visual FoxPro" to choose the best value.

Mike
