Working with outlook current mail item

I know very little about Outlook, so thought someone may be able to help answer what I imagine is a simple problem.

I am composing a mail message. I click a custom button and i want to be able to insert something (text, hyperlink, etc..) where the cursor was when I clicked the button. the .body property of the current item completely erases everything.

You would need something like:

activeinspector.CurrentItem.body.selstart

Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to exist.

You could copy the body to a a text box on a form, perform your manipulations there, and replace the mail item body with the result.
