Working With Menus

Hi, I have an application (AJAX) that uses a menu (just a multi element select box). But I have two problems:

1. There is a (dead) scrollbar on the right side that I can't get to go away (overflow:hidden doesn't work (which I kind of expected))

2. When the list gets down to one element (the size is constantly changing), the menu becomes a select box. I want a single element menu, not a drop down box?

Anyone have any ideas on either of these? Thanks.

1. Unfortunately, select boxes are mostly OS (and browser) dependent and the styling you apply to them is limited. You're right, removing the scrollbar is another inconvenience you cannot do.

2. When select list has a size of 1, it becomes a dropdown. That is a normal behaviour of the element. I would simply make it size 2 the smallest, even if there is only one element. Better to have a bit of empty space than having it change on you. You would probably be best off asking how to do that in forum216.

Okay thanks. I'll have to see if I can hack around this functionality somehow and get it looking decent.
