Working PPTP WinXP VPN not Resolving DNS

I have a semi-working WindowsXP PPTP VPN setup. I can connect to the remote PC and browse the entire network via ip address, I cannot browse by hostname. (not that big of a deal) Yet whenever I connect to the VPN, I am unable to resolve any DNS queries. For example, when connected I can ping 74.125.47.147 (

http://www.google.com),

But I am unable to ping

http://www.google.com.

I have tried setting the dns (on the local machine) to my local router. I've even tried using opendns with the same results.

I have 'Use Default Gateway On Remote Network' UNTICKED
The DNS Tab & WINS tabs are set to the default settings.
