I'm in a residence and I have two computers, one with XP Home and one with XP Pro, both in a workgroup. I have XP Pro sharing two printers. I'm finding that people can print to my printers over the network.

How do I make it when people click on My Network Places, browse the workgroup and click on my computer, a login window comes up and they have to enter a username and password to access my shared printers?

Or can I simply set it so that only my two computers can use those printers?

Thanks in advance.

Dis-able the guest login on your XP Pro. (Or make sure it isn't enabled)

Create a logon with a password different from the XP Home logons.

Also, check the security so that 'everyone' is not able to manage printers, etc...

It should boil down to access - who can access your computer and with what security. Of course, they might be able to 'remember password' and not have to type it in again. It's not as clear cut as you might like, but play around with it.

disable simplified sharing on XP Pro machine - users will then need valid account details for that machine to access shared resources.
