WORKGROUP is not accessible. You might not have permission

I have 3 computers, all running Windows XP Professional. 2 of them are desktops and 1 is a laptop. I am having trouble setting up a file and printer sharing network on them. I do not need alot of security, just sharing.

They all are using the workgroup of "WORKGROUP". They all have a static IP address on the 192.168.150 block. They all can get on the internet through the LinkSys router. Yet, they cannot see each other and therefore, cannot share files or printers.

"Simple File Sharing" is enabled on all 3 computers. I have setup individual folders that are set to "Share" and enabled "Allow Network Users to Change My Files".

When I try to browse the "WORKGROUP" network, I get the following error message.

Could it be any firewall software blocking access?

the first thing I tried was turning off the firewall on all machines. Still no fun.

Also, when I searched for a computer in Windows XP, it found each and every computer I searched for. I was then able to access them. I added a shortcut to each computer to my desktop and have no issues getting to them that way.

The only issue is if I go through My Network Places. That is when I get the problem.

It's likely that 1 machine is causing the problem for all. With only 3, it's easy to work out which one by process of elimination. Leave machine off at a time. Wait for at least 20 minutes before testing to make sure normal browse master selection has occurred. If you find a combination that works with 2 machines, the problem one is the one that's off.

Once you find the problem one, we can start by forcing Netbios over TCP/IP on that machine.
