Hi,

I have two databases which both run ok in Microsoft Access 2000 on the same computer.
Our company now has installed Microsoft Access 2003 on some machines.

I am having trouble getting the shortcuts to run in Microsoft Access 2003 mainly recognising the workgroup information file in the shortcut
which it doesn't seem to like. Shortcuts both run ok under Access 2000.
I can get the databases to work In Access 2003 but only one at a time by joining onto the workgroup administrator file by doing

Tools
Security
Workgroup Administrator menu.

One is called envirosys.mdw and other is labsys.mdw i.e \\path\envirosys.mdw and \\path\labsys.mdw
I can join onto these successfully and database works but i need to use both databases on same computer.
Doing it this way everytime i want to use other database have to join onto other .mdw file

Do i need to create a new workgroup information file in access 2003 or do i need to convert database / convert workgroup information file ?

thanks
gaz

I think you CAN convert the workgroup files but it sounds like your problem is in the shortcut.

Shortcuts that specify workgroups do so via command line switches. In other words, it is using the MSaccess.exe program as part of the shortcut. Most likely Office 2003 is installed in a different folder than Office 2000, breaking your shortcuts on those machines. If you update your path information in the shortcut, I bet it will work fine.
