Can we attach a livelink category to a workflow?
If "yes" Can I update the attribute value of the category during the Work Flow process , when user hits the "Approve" button ?
Not the attributes that we can attach to Workflow.
But the categories that I already have in livelink.

What do you want to do .Do you want to find thru a livelink advanced search the workflow map.Categories are used to find things in livelink thru advanced search

If the intention is to move a document sitting in the attachments area of the workflow to a library location and have some workflow/form attributes map to library category/attributes then that is what the ItemHandler step in workflow is for.It is part of core since 9.5 version.Please try to do some simple examples of the item handler property so you get a feel of that functionality

BTW:I am not a big fan of item handler.It is very limited and has some bugs that may or may not work in every situation.My experience with lapi tells me that it is much easier to write "event scrips" against workflows rather than lapi,because of the severe data structures that the workflow uses.It is actually a breeze writing anything against livelink workflow thru oscript.

I forgot to mention.The XMLworkflow extensions allow you to do a lot of workflow thru a language which can manipulate xml.I am not sure if it is free or an optional module.People who do not like "oscript" or "lapi" uses that tool to manipulate livelink workflow and has a huge fan following in OT.

I could work with the Item handler and get the Category values.
