Workflow Variable

Does anyone know how I could increment a workflow variable? For example, i want to copy a file that has an ID number one less than the current item's ID number. Right now I can create a variable and set it equal to the current item's ID number...but i need to set this variable to be one less than the current item's ID number.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
