Hi all --
I am a relatively knowledgeable PageMaker user but I have just been asked to develop workflow process for a small publication in which there will be two or three remote users working the publication.
At this writing, I do not expect that there is (thank God) any thought of simultaneous use. However, I am wondering if anyone has any experience with several users in different locations working on the same publication.
Any thoughts or information would be greatly appreciated.

One piece of advice - decide on styles beforehand and make sure each person working on the document uses them religiously. Also it's best to make sure that each person is using the recommended (by Adobe) workflow: which will save on headaches later.

Hi, OneIron,

If multiple users are to be working on the same PM file, you're going to need a system to track amendments. PM has nothing built-in, so you're going have to design one.

If you have a remote network drive, the recommended procedure is copy the PM file and associated graphics from the remote drive to the user's local drive, and when the editing session is over, copy everything back.

This can make for many copies, so each one has to be clearly identified preferably with the user's name and date/time stamp and in a separate sub-folder. PM does not do this automatically so requires the users to be very disciplined.

Best of luck.
