hi,
we have a notebook running on windows xp, with office xp. when we open microsoft word, there are words coming out as if somebody is typing. these are english words in the dictionary, sometimes phrases but the message cannot be understood. i though somebody's using pcanywhere or remote admin, but i already removed the network conexn. i already reinstalled the officexp. this is weird. please help. is this a virus? tried scanning but cant detect any.

I doubt it's as sinister as you think. Likely, speech recognition is enabled on the pc in question.

Excerpted from KB article 326526 ( are these instructions on how to turn it off:

"Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Regional and Language Options.
Click the Languages tab, and then click Details.
Under Installed services, click Speech Recognition, click Remove, and then click OK.
Click OK to apply all the changes.

You may have to restart your computer."
