Each time I open a Corel Wordperfect 8 file with Corel 2000 Wordperfect 10, view the file without making any changes. The application prompts me to save the file each time. I even tried selecting save, when I open the file to view again it still prompts me to save the file. I tried this with corel 2000 service packs two and three. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I recently installed Wordperfect Office 2002. I did not uninstall Wordperfect Office Suite 8, which continues to work properly. Whenever I try to create an address book in WP10, I get an error message "Error creating database". I the QUE book on WP10 it suggests there may be a BDE conflict. The address book in WP8 still works. Any ideas as to how to resolve this problem?

In reply to DJ18, I have found this process works the best for addressbooks in office 2002:

1. You must first set up a database using Corel Central Admin. Create users and give them passwords and permissions.

2. Open the addressbook either via Word Perfect (tools, addressbook) or via your Start -> Programs Word Perfect Suite 2002

3. If you do not have any address books set up in 2002, then you will get a window prompting you to create or open an existing address book. (Otherwise if the addressbook 'program' loads, you can make a new addressbook.)

4. Go through the motions of starting a new address book and when you're prompted for a directory to save/create it in, choose the same directory where you saved/created the database. The addressbook should have the same name as the database. You will need to use a username and password if you have chosen to share the addressbook with others. (I found this the easiest on our network).

5. You can import .abx address books if you need to or .csv files.

This address book is better than version 8's and has a better structure. IF you import an .abx you will be asked during the import process to choose new titles for previous titles from the old addressbook.

I can reply later with a step-by-step process if you like. The short answer to your problem is create the database first, then create an addressbook with the same location as the database.

To helptek02 - I'm not 100% sure but I can think of two things.

Either someone else is using the file (if you are on a network etc) or (I think this has happened to me a year or so ago) if you check the settings of WP10 and change it's filetype for saving to ver 6/7/8/9/10 then it might not ask you to save as each time.

I have just done a clean install of Office 2002. I cannot create an address book either from the admin window or from word perfect. The only error message is "error creating database".
Corel Central gives me the option of either a mysql or a paradox database. If I try to change the location of the new database, it demands a full file name with extension (*.*) rather than a folder (location). I have attempted to enter address.db, but cannot do so.
All help appreciated.

Did you ever solve the problem with WP-10 thinking unchanged documents were changed and had to be resaved? I have that problem, too.

We have the same problem with WP10 after upgrading from WP8. It seems to happen for us most often with documents originally created in WP8. Two potential fixes:

1. Use WPLOOK to find and repair any corruption in the files. (This did NOT work for me. It found the corruption but couldn't fix the files.)

2. Highlight everything, including codes, in the file (Alt-a) and copy to the clip board (Alt-c). Go to a new blank document. Paste everything (Alt-v). Save the new document. (This is the fix I use.)

Good luck.
